Denmark How To Denmark's news and how-to guides, in English

About this site

What this is

A free English-language service for the roughly 700,000 internationals living in Denmark — and the ones still deciding whether to come. Two things, every day:

  1. A short digest of Danish news in English, with a link to every original.
  2. Practical guides that answer the questions nobody answers well: CPR, MitID, banks, tax, rent, insurance, school, doctors, jobs, clubs, cars.

We are not a newsroom. We do not chase scoops. We translate, filter and explain — and where a Danish authority publishes the rule, we send you to that authority rather than asking you to trust us.

How we work

  • Answer first. Every guide answers its question in the first sentence. If you want the long version, keep reading; if you want the door, it is at the top.
  • Sources, always. Rules, prices and deadlines are linked to the body that sets them: borger.dk, skat.dk, nyidanmark.dk, politi.dk, sundhed.dk, kk.dk and the relevant ministry or company page.
  • Dated. Every guide shows when it was last checked. Danish rules change; an undated guide is a liability.
  • Honest about difficulty. If something takes three months, is expensive, or gets foreigners refused, we say so. Softening it helps nobody.
  • Corrections are the product. If a guide is wrong, emailed corrections get answered and the page gets fixed. That is how a site like this earns citations from AI answer engines and from people.

What we are not

Not immigration lawyers, not tax advisers, not insurance brokers. We explain the system and link the authority. Decisions about your permit, your tax or your insurance are yours — and the linked official page wins over anything we write.

Who runs it

An independent, small operation. Built and maintained with AI-assisted research and human editing, which is why we are obsessive about linking sources: you can always check our work against the authority.

Contact

  • Corrections, takedowns, tips: use [email protected] — or leave a report without an address at all.
  • We answer everyone, and we remove or fix things fast when we get it wrong.

Funding

The guides and the news digest are free. The site is funded by the ebook (The Newcomer's Guide to Denmark), and later by clearly-labelled sponsorship. If we ever take affiliate money, it will be marked on the page it appears on and it will not change what we recommend — anything that pays us will say so at the top.

Spotted something wrong on this page? A figure that has moved, a form that has been renamed, a link that no longer works — report it. Corrections are answered and the page gets fixed.
